We are the largest independent tutoring company in Chorley and have been based at the junction of Market Street and Chapel Street, since September 2005 when we opened as a Kip McGrath Education Centre (KMEC) franchise.
Specialising in providing tutoring in READING, SPELLING, ENGLISH and MATHS for children aged 5 upwards - for those who need extra help at school, as well as for those who want to enhance their work even further - we have consistently grown through recommendations of both parents and local schools.
In August 2011, we ceased operating as a KMEC franchise and became fully independant forming Eureka Tuition.
In Summer 2017 Lucy Entwistle became the new owner and Director of the centre, taking over from Hilary Pepper who retired from the business in December 2017.

One of the first questions children ask about Eureka Tuition is: "Will it be like school?" Well it is and it isn't. Like all good schools, we employ fully qualified, experienced, enthusiastic teachers as tutors; but our teachers only ever work with a maximum of four children. Each child has a planned individual program specifically developed for them. The program is consistently maintained and followed throughout the childs journey with us.
Principal Tutor and Owner
Lucy has over 25 years teaching experience, working with children from EYFS Nursery, through to year Six and into Secondary Education. She has held senior teaching roles in schools thoughout Lancashire during that time. She says:
"When I started working at Eureka in March 2016 I couldn’t believe my luck. Here was a teaching environment that allowed teachers to spend quality time with each student; was unbelievably well resourced and had such a lovely energy and welcoming feel about it. When Hillary offered me the opportunity to purchase the business I jumped at the chance.
Eureka will continue to run as it always has, as I value these things not only as a teacher but also as a parent. My eldest daughter, who has just achieved fantastic GCSE results, came to Eureka for extra Maths tuition and my youngest also comes for both English and Maths."
Hilary has 25 years teaching experience in Stoke, Preston, Chorley and Bolton. In addition to her teaching qualifications, she has a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Education. For the last 10 years of her school career, she held a teaching and management post. She says:
"The atmosphere that we have created, of children being enthusiastic to learn and teachers being able to teach in a calm environment, is one that is difficult to replicate in normal school classrooms. It is also a joy to be able to plan just for individual children's needs and see them flourish."
Elaine is one of our primary tutors. A graduate in French & Linguistics, with a postgraduate certificate in Teacher Training, she has been teaching since 1995; with experience across the primary range, particularly early years learning, at schools in St Helens and Wigan. She says:
"Being a tutor at Eureka has renewed my love of teaching. The resources are superb for helping the children move on in their learning. I get great pleasure from seeing the children's delight as they achieve something new."
Ed is our our Secondary Maths tutor and has been teaching since 2005. Ed marks GCSE Maths exams for Edexcel and has experience of the International GCSE syllabus, having marked the exams for many years.
"I enjoy teaching maths and discovering what approach to a topic works best with a student. I believe that learning is more effective as a discussion so I encourage conversation relating to the topic that we are covering."
Habiba is one of our Primary Tutors. She has been teaching since completing her Primary PGCE in 2009. She has experience teaching across the year groups whilst working in schools in Blackburn and Preston. She Says:
"Since starting tutoring at Eureka, I have throughly enjoyed it. The enviroment is very positive, resources are plentiful and varied to help all children learn in a way that suits them, so that they can progress. The children are eager to learn and a delight to teach!"
